A decent lock is the best way to make sure your building stays safe and secure. However, it’s not always enough, especially in areas with a high crime rate. There are other ways that you can secure the front door of your home or the door of your business property. Here are some ideas:

• Use a bolt. This will lock the door from the inside, making it very difficult for anybody to gain entry unless you open the bolt. The downside is that you will also not be able to gain entry to your own property if you accidentally lock yourself out… you would need to break the door down.
• Get a safety chain. This will prevent the door from being forced open when it is on, so you will be able to open the door a small amount. This will make it much safer to answer the door at night when it is somebody you don’t know.
• Use a spy hole. You will be able to see who is outside without having to open the door at all.
